Cypress is an ideal medium for crafting these fine cupolas. The wood is inherantly durable and extremely resistant to harsh weather conditions, insects and fungus as a result of the tree producing a natural oil called cypressine, which acts as a preservative. While the wood takes well to paints, sealants and stains, when left in it's unfinished state it becomes a light pewter color as it weathers. Cypress resists damage from splitting and warping to splintering and cracking. Cypress wood compliments any interior or exterior architectural style.

To choose the proper size window cupola for a one story building you should have at least one inch or more of cypress cupola base width for each foot of unbroken horizontal roof line. If your building is higher than one story we recommend choosing a larger cupola.
