Woodshop Cupolas and Acadia Weathervanes are handcrafted in Maine at our busy Bar Harbor and Trenton workshops. All cupolas and handcrafted weathervanes have been designed by master craftsman Phil Alley and are built by him, his daughter, Leslie Esposito, and her husband, Vincent Esposito.
All of our handcrafted cupolas and handcrafted weathervanes are covered by our written guarantee.

1. We use only the best No. 1 select materials. Your choice of native pine, native white cedar, cypress, philippine mahogany, or western red cedar.

2. All joints are MITERED and SEALED with waterproof adhesive.

3. We use more louvers and they are MORTISED 3/8-inch into solid corners. This means they are set into a pocket, not stapled into a slot. More louvers means better ventilation.

4. For roofs, two styles are available. The STANDARD ROOF is made with four sheets of 3/4-inch exterior plywood MITERED AT THE CORNERS and SEALED with waterproof adhesive. The DELUXE ROOF has a 3/4-inch exterior plywood soffit to hold rafters covered with 1/4-inch bent plywood. Both roof styles are covered with heavy 16 oz. copper hand nailed with bronze ring nails. Both styles are designed to accept a weathervane. If no vane will be used, your cupola may be ordered with a solid roof cap, instead of a drilled one, at no extra cost.

5. Two styles of BASES are available. One is made from clear SELECT 11-inch pine, cypress or red cedar with mitered corners sealed with waterproof adhesive and fastened with stainless steel screws at the corners. The other is designed for steeper roofs or to match your siding. It is SHIPLAP construction made from 3/4-inch pine, cypress, white cedar, mahogany, or red cedar stock, RABBETED to overlap each other. Every lap is sealed, nailed with bronze ring nails and screwed together with stainless steel screws.

6. Everything is pre-drilled with STAINLESS STEEL SCREWS in place. We don't use any paint to cover up flaws or knots.

7. Because our cupolas are DESIGNED FOR VENTILATION we also can supply screening, at a small additional charge, to keep out insects, rain, or snow.

8. Our cupolas are built in three sections. Sizes through 28" X 36" are shipped FedEx Ground. Larger sizes are shipped via motor freight.

9. If you compare these specifications with factory models that cost more, you will find ours are the best you can buy!

PHIL ALLEY'S HANDCRAFTED FULL-BODIED Weather vanes:

Made of 16 oz. copper, hand hammered or formed to shape, then soldered together.

PHIL ALLEY'S HAND-CRAFTED SILHOUETTE TYPE Weather-vanes:

Made with two sheets of 24 oz. copper, cut to shape and detailed, then soldered on each side of shaft to give approximately 1/2" thickness.

Note: All our hand-crafted weathervanes by Phil Alley have solid 3/4-inch brass poles and stainless steel top pins. All manufactured Classic Design Weathervanes have steel poles and top pins. ALL of our weathervanes come with brass directionals, a brass ring and two copper balls. Brackets for mounting a weathervane without a cupola are sold separately
